Castle Uehara Castle

Description This picture just shows that you should pay attention to what's at your feet when walking around these historical sites. As I was taking the next picture of the top of the central bailey, I stepped back to stand on what I thought was an ordinary stone. When I looked down to check the results on my camera display, I noticed these squarish marks in the stone. These marks are from when they dug notches into a larger stone and used wedges to split it into two pieces. I assume this stone was set here intentionally, but with no signs nearby it's probably missed by most people. You can frequently see similar notches on stones in the stone walls throughout castles.
