Sasai Residence

Kanegasaki sasai1.jpg

Background

The Sasai served various positions including military commanders. The house itself was rebuilt in the late 1800's (mid Meiji Period) using materials and methods that reflected the Edo Period samurai home architecture. I have seen some older photos of the original house but it seems that it has been covered in more modern materials recently. People still live in the home and it is not open to the public.
