History

The Yamanaka were one of the key families among the Koka 53 families. This is thought to have been their fortified residence. Unlike most Koka castles, there are actually references in historical documents to other leaders visiting the Yamanaka here. The land was confiscated by Toyotomi Hideyoshi in 1585.

Visit Notes

The castle is about 60m x 70m making it a fairly large Koka style yakatajiro but only a few bits of embankments remain today.
