History

The Jin'ya was established by Asano Nagashige, 3rd son of Asano Nagamasa, around 1622 after the death of Nagamasa (1611). He received a portion of the lands after his father's passing and was permitted a Jin'ya. The third generation Asano Naganao was transferred to the Ako Domain and the Makabe Jin'ya was maintained by the Kasama Domain until the end of the Edo Period.

Visit Notes

The castle town has some interesting temples to visit while walking from Makabe Castle to the Jin'ya. There are no real remnants of the Jin'ya today, but it has some "period looking" buildings that are a museum and civic center. The museum was closed to all non-residents during the Covid19 state of emergency.
