History

Maruoka Castle was built by the Aoki Clan, one of the 53 clans of Koka Samurai. When the Rokkaku fell to Nobunaga, the Aoki allied with Nobunaga. After the death of Nobunaga, Hideyoshi confiscated the lands and abandoned the castle.
