History

Yadahime-yashiki was the residence of Lady Yada from 1564 to 1603. Yada-hime was the wife of Nagasawa Ietada, the eighth generation head of the Nagasawa-Matsudaira. Lord Nagasawa was one of sixteen so-called divine generals of Tokugawa Ieyasu, and Yada-hime was Ieyasu’s half-sister. The yashiki may be considered as part of a complex of fortified residences in Nagasawa Valley. It was situated beneath the hillside fort of Daikakujijō (Nagasawa Daikakuji Castle), just west of the main residence of Nagasawa Castle.

Visit Notes

Yadahime-yashiki, a fortified residence site, is now only fields. Modern housing encroaches.
