Ohmura Residence

This is the only original upper class samurai residence in Hikone. It was built in the mid 1700s to early 1800s. It has an original house, gate and nagaya preserving the complete picture of a samurai home. Hopefully, it will one day be open to the public.

    contrast with the ashigaru homes is pretty stark. i wonder if the family is still considered a cut above the residents of the ashigaru hovels.
