History
Sakuma-yakata was established by Sakuma Nagasuke, the second son of Sakuma Katsuyuki, lord of Naganuma Domain, as the centre of a small sub-fief valued at 3,000 koku, in the early Edo period. The Sakuma Clan was purged in 1688 (see Naganuma Castle for more info' on that). Sakuma-yakata is also called Akanuma-yakata, after the village. Since there was a so-called Akanuma faction of the Shimaźu Clan, builders of Naganumajō, who supported Takeda Shingen over Uesugi Kenshin, I wondered if this wasn't where the pro-Takeda faction had their base at one point.

Sakuma-yakata was a fortified residence site in Akanuma village, Nagano Municipality. No ruins remain, and the site is now a farmstead, orchards and an altar to Jizō.
