Shioda-yashiki was the residence of the Shioda-chōsha, the head of Shioda Village, known by the clan name Furuya with the honourific title of 'protector of Tsushima'. Although the relationship between the main Furuya Clan, one of the oldest clans in Kai, predating the Takeda, and the Shioda-Furuya is unknown, the Furuya Clan residence site is in nearby - though I didn't have time to visit on this trip (this would be Furuya-yashiki in Yatsushiro County; there is also a Furuya-yashiki in Yamanashi County).

Visit Notes

Shioda-yashiki features dorui (earthen ramparts), particularly on the northern side. There is a fine old residence here with a majestic gate, the inheritor of the medieval residence hall. As the descendents of medieval lords still live on the site today, access is limited.

Shioda-yashiki is not to be confused with the Shioda-yakata in Shinano.
