History
Yamadera-yashiki was the medieval fortified residence of the Yamadera Clan. The Yamadera Clan were vassals of the Takeda Clan and were related to the Aoki Clan. They served as part of the Mukawa-shū, a group of frontier warriors responsible for defending the border of Kai Province. In the Sengoku period lords may have included Yamadera Nobuaki who served under Takeda Nobushige.
Visit Notes
The site of the Yamadera-yashiki is said to have been the fields just south of Shirasawa Bridge. I went here. There are raised segments of earth but their purpose is not clear. A long mound which looks like its purpose is to form a barrier is found running eastward from beneath the road, hemming in an old residence here.
