Hashira Castle (Mikawa)
Hashirajō was the fortified residence of Kamiya Yoshirō. Ruins of the fort existed in the form of dorui (earthen ramparts) and a moat segment, but these were bulldozed in 1982.
Hashirajō was a fortification site in the Hashira neighbourhood of Okazaki City. No ruins remain as the site is now housing. The minor neighourhood name (that is, the koaza) is 'Minamiyashiki ("South Residence")', perhaps a reference to the fortified residence which once stood here. A small hall to Jizō marks the spot of the fort, and, having found this place, I can report that the Jizō hall has been rebuilt, and now looks cheap and tacky.
