Henmi Yashiki (Kai)
History
Henmi-yashiki was the foritfied residence of the Henmi Clan from at least the mid' 15th century. The lord of the yashiki (residence) was Henmi Matashirō, a vassal of Takeda Nobushige. Upon his death Nobushige entrusted the custodianship of his infant son to Henmi Matashirō, indicating that Matashirō was a trusted retainer. Tellingly the Henmi-yashiki was located close to the manor hall of Lord Nobushige. Matashirō may have been a relation or descendent of Henmi Arinao, though it is not known whether Arinao also inhabited the same residence. Henmi-yashiki was also home to Henmi Asatoshi.
Visit Notes
Unfortunately no ruins remain of Kai-Henmi-yashiki, probably owing to its earlier construction date and redevelopment of the area, and the site is now mixed housing, fields and temples.
