History
Iuchijō was the fortified residence of Kuze Hironobu (and Sakabe Hirokatsu?). Kuze Hironobu's father (the koaza (specific neighbourhood name) of the castle site is Kuze) was killed during the Mikawa Ikkō-Ikki uprising, having fought against Tokugawa Ieyasu for the rebels. Hironobu was an infant at the time and was raised by his mother in Ōmi following his father's death. However, Tokugawa Ieyasu pardoned Hironobu for his father's crime, and Hironobu served at Takatenjinjō, as well as fighting at the battle of Nagashino in 1575 (he would've been around 14 at that time). It is thought that Iuchijō was built (or re-built) after this time. Hironobu joined the Yokosuka Squad in 1578, fighting against Takeda forces in the fight to re-capture Takatenjinjō. He also served at the battle of Komaki-Nagakute in 1584. He became an important official in the Edo period. Iuchijō was abandoned in 1590.

Iuchijō is a fortified residence site in Inai, a neighbourhood on the outskirts of urban Okazaki. No ruins remain, and the site is now residential sprawl; the Hachiman temple in Inai is said to be on the site of the fort.
