Kattori Castle (Chikuma)

History

Kattorijō was one of three strongholds used by the Ogasawara to protect the settlement of Ono and the surrounding valley during the Sengoku Period. The others were Chikuma Ueda Castle and Ina Konishi Castle (Ono straddles a county border).

Visit Notes

Descending from Kiridōzan toward the town of Ono took me to the ruins of Chikuma-Kattorijō. A pylon has been constructed here, complicating my inspection. There is a single bailey of this fort, and what looks like dorui to the rear. There is a small explanation board.
