Maruyama Noroshidai (Suwa)

Maruyama-noroshidai is thought to have been a fortified beacon tower, though because the bailey is quite large it could’ve also likely have hosted a small force or served as a residence or guardhouse. It is thought the fort guarded trade routes in the area. Furthermore there is a theory that the castellan was Baba Nobufusa.

Visit Notes

Maruyama-noroshidai is a single bailey fort complex which is thought to have served as a beacon tower. It is twinned with nearby Tsutagijō. Essentially the fort consisted of a flattened circular enclosure atop of a small hill. To the south is a small sub-enclosure carved into the hillside. The site is now a park.
