Miyachifuru Yashiki
History
Miyachifuru-yashiki was the fortified residence of the Shinke Clan who served the Ashikaga Clan and later the Anshō-Matsudaira Clan.
Visit Notes
Miyachifuru-yashiki is a medieval residence site in urban Anjō. Castle-bloggers report that up until recently (how recently they don't say) there were 2m tall dorui (earthen ramparts) remaining of the fortifications running in segments north and west, but that these were bulldozed to make way for road expansion and residential development. Now no ruins remain and the site is now housing. Nyakuichiōji Shrine is opposite the site.
Note: this is Miyachi(furu)-yashiki in historical Hekikai County, not to be confused with Miyachi Yashiki in historical Nukata County, both in Mikawa Province / Aichi Prefecture.
