Momose Yashiki
From Jcastle.info
History
Presumably the fortified residence of Momose-yashiki predates the nearby Momose-jin’ya, built by the Suwa Clan in the Edo period. The Momose Clan were an off-shoot of the Takeda Clan that settled this area following that clan’s defeat of the Ogasawara and conquest of the area in 1550. Although this site bear's their name, the main base of the Momose Clan in the Sengoku period seems to have been the Koike-toride to the south, a fort with an elliptical water moat fort and several clan bukeyashiki (samuria homes) surrounding it. The yashiki must date to some time between 1550 and 1582.
Visit Notes
There’s nothing to see of the site of Momose-yashiki, a fortified residence, and the site is now disused farmland.
