Nagasaka Yashiki
History
Nagasaka-yashiki was the residence of Nagasaka Shinzaemon in the mid' 15th century. The Nagasaka Clan was defeated by Matsudaira Nobumitsu in the battle of Enkawa. Nagasaka-yashiki may have been used by the Matsudaira Clan as a residence attached to Ogyūjō in the 16th century.
Visit Notes
Nagasaka-yashiki is a medieval residence site in Ôuchi Township, Toyota Municipality. The site features impressive ishigaki (stone-piled retaining walls), but these were constructed for a temple, itself now lost, after the time of the yashiki. The main stone platform is at the top, but beneath that the slope is terraced, and the stone-piled retaining walls here look older than the temple's masonry, so I entertained the possibility that they may have originated with the yashiki if it was used alongside Ogyūjō.
