Narisawa Noroshidai
History
Narisawa-noroshidai was part of a network of noroshidai (signal towers) surrounding and protecting the Takeda home territory of Kai. Narisawa-noroshidai was especially important because it guarded a pass into Kai from neighbouring Musashi. The fort’s extra defences reflect this important role. The local Ômura Clan served as castellans of Narisawa-noroshidai.
Visit Notes
Narisawa-noroshidai is a noroshidai (fortified beacon tower) site in Narisawa, Makioka Township, Yamanashi Municipality. Most noroshidai sites are little more than a flattened peak today, but Narisawa-noroshidai consisted of several baileys and terraces, and was clearly a more formidable fort than most noroshidai. Ruins include earthworks such as trenches, baileys and embankments.
