Obinata Samon Yakata
History
This was the site of the fortified manor hall of Obinata Samon, an Obinata clansman who died resisting Takeda Shingen's take-over of Shinano. The yakata was destroyed or abandoned at that time.
Visit Notes
We came by this site on the way to site of "Kinasa Old Castle". One can see a flattened area surrounded by terraced fields. There is a shrine and modern house atop. This was the site of the fortified manor hall of Obinata Samon who perished resisting Takeda Shingen. Nothing remains of the manor hall today. The scenery is beautiful. Not only that but it is shielded from strong northern winds by the mountains above, yet also benefits from much sunlight, and so it was an ideal place for the small community which initially may have been built around the yakata. There is still a hamlet here now.
