The Takahashi Residence is now more commonly known as the Shiraito Machinami Kouryukan or Shiraito Machinami Civic Center. They also provide tourism information. The house is an original samurai home. According to the last owners it was rebuilt in the Meiji Period, but studies of the house show it may actually be older. This could also be the case if they reused materials from the original house when it was rebuilt. Regardless, it is still a good example of a samurai home in Kanegasaki.

たかはし屋敷・白糸町並交流館 [金ヶ崎] Takahashi House (Kanegasaki)

This old house is located close to Kanegasaki Castle, indicating a degree of status. The thatched roof is now covered with metal sheeting and encased with plaster from the interior. The structure is preserved as a museum and cultural center. The old dears who run it serve coffee and offer information about the samurai homes preserved in Kanegasaki.
