History

Visit Notes
Takiwakijō is a yamajiro (mountaintop castle) in Takiwaki Township, Toyota Municipality. Ruins consist of earthworks, including baileys and trenches. The layout of the fort is of an extended single bailey complex; the western ridge terracing could be considered a second bailey, since the change in elevation is not so great. Since the peak bailey is very small, it is also possible to view this area as a single bailey in several stages. A streak of taller terraces runs down the northern ridge. There is an indentation in the lower bailey which may indicate where there was a gate. To the rear of the peak bailey is a horikiri (trench).
