Takiwaki Jin'ya
History
Takiwaki-jin'ya was built by Matsudaira Noritsugu in 1601. The territory under his administration was valued at 600 koku, and covered holdings in both Kamo and Nukata counties. The Takiwaki-Matsudaira Clan constructed their bodaiji (clan temple), Chōshōin, across a small valley to the west of the jin'ya. The site is thought to have been the site of a medieval residence which the Takiwaki-Matsudaira originally lived in prior to 1590.
Visit Notes
Takiwaki-jin'ya is a hatamoto jin'ya (bannerman's hall) ruin in Takiwaki Township, Toyota Municipality. The ruins consist of a terraced hillside with remnant ishigaki (stonewalls) in places. It seems the bamboo grove which once ate up the site has been in recent years cut back. The Takiwaki-Matsudaira Clan's bodaiji (clan temple), Chōshōin, is nearby. It has impressive ishigaki.
