History

The Tanba-yashiki was the kyokan (residential area) at the foot of the castle mount of Arugajō. It was built in the Muromachi period by Aruga Yoshiteru. In the Edo period it may have been the residence of Chino Fusakiyo, and Chino Clan graves are also found at the temple.

Visit Notes

Tanba-yashiki in Suwa County is a fortified residence site, though few if any ruins visibly remain, bar maybe some terracing. The site is now fields, a cemetery, and the temple Kōinji. There is an explanation board about the yashiki.
