History

Zenshoji Fort was one of the forts (including Tange Fort and Nakajima Fort) built by Oda Nobunaga to contain the Imagawa at Narumi Castle. Nobunaga passed through here between Tange Fort and Nakajima Fort on his way to the Battle of Okehazama.

Visit Notes

Zenshoji Fort is the most interesting of the forts surrounding Narumi Castle. The park is well defined with good views. It is roughly along the same hillside or ridge as Narumi Castle and may be the closest fort to the former castle.

This is where it is said that Oda Nobunaga had many banners erected to give the impression to enemy forces that he had many troops amassed here. But in fact it was part of his plan to ambush the main Imagawa camp.
